Uncontested Family Law

An uncontested divorce or modification means that both parties have reached an agreement regarding all material terms and conditions in their divorce or modification. This includes agreeing on the process for dividing all debts and assets in the divorce, as well as an agreement on child custody and visitation matters and spousal and/or child support when appropriate. Though both parties may understand the agreement that has been reached between them, it is always a beneficial to have an attorney review any settlement agreement and make certain that the terms are clearly stated and consistent with Georgia law.

An uncontested divorce can be finalized quickly if the parties agree and the proper legal documents, including a Final Judgment and Decree of Divorce, are completed. Once these documents are signed by a Judge the divorce is final.

The Law Office of Matthew T. Shiner is able to provide legal representation to those who have reached a full agreement but want assistance in preparing and/or reviewing their case documents. Our firm only handles uncontested family law actions.
